Home Affairs Ministry issued a “high importance” alert to financial and regulatory institutions regarding new fake ₹500 currency notes being circulated across India, News18 reported. The ministry said the counterfeit notes have Reserve Bank of India’s name printed incorrectly, replacing one of ‘E’ with an ‘A’. It called the notes “particularly dangerous” as “this subtle mistake may go unnoticed”.
