Bruno Fernandes has been cheering on his teammate Rasmus Hojlund after Manchester United’s big 4-1 win against Real Sociedad in the Europa League on March 14. Even though Hojlund hasn’t scored in his last 21 games, Fernandes has been praising his hard work and the important role he plays in the team.
Fernandes was the hero of the match, scoring three goals to help United reach the quarter-finals, where they’ll face Lyon next month. He netted two penalties and completed his hat-trick with a cool finish in the final minutes of the game.
Hojlund had a few chances to score but couldn’t find the back of the net. Still, he made a big impact by setting up Diogo Dalot’s goal in extra time, ensuring United ended the game on a high note.
After the match, Fernandes talked about how much effort Hojlund puts in during training and matches. He said that while people outside the team only care about goals, the players in the dressing room value everything else he brings to the team.
“He’s a striker, and people judge strikers by their goals. If he doesn’t score, people will criticize him,” Fernandes told TNT Sports.
“But inside the team, we know how much he does for us. We all want him to score, but we also see how he helps in other ways. He won the penalty for our first goal, and his runs create space for others. For my last goal, he dragged the defender away, giving me the space to score. People might not notice these things, but we do,” he added.
Manchester United has had a mix of good and bad moments in the Premier League, but their strong performance in the Europa League has boosted the team’s morale. Fans are hoping this good form continues and that Hojlund will start scoring again soon.
As United gets ready for their next match against Lyon, the team will focus on keeping their winning streak alive and helping Hojlund get back to scoring goals.
